President's Message
I was very pleased with the activities in April,
both the show and the meeting for the month reviewing the pieces from
the show.
It seemed that there was a general
consensus that the commentary by the judges by valuable, although not
everyone agreed with every comment.
Hopefully we will be able to continue to
improve the quality of judging and participation next year.
I am pleased to let you know that for May, we will
have a presentation by John Sauer who will give us a power-point
presentation on his work.
In addition, Terry Gannon will show us the
new and expanded website and how to best utilize it, as well as explore
ideas for future changes.
Because the club has a continuing concern
about a facility for demonstrations, hands-on classes and meetings, the
board has agreed to the appointment of a committee to locate alternative
locations to conduct our activities.
Steve Baum, Gene Franz, Ken Clifford, Ann
Fuller and George Lutz have agreed to serve on the committee.
Because of the various needs, it may be
that multiple types of locations are required.
Please think about possible locations that
may work for one or more of our needs and if you have any ideas, let one
of the committee members know.
President’s
Challenge
The President’s challenge for May is to
locate an ugly, flawed, checked knot, worm or insect infested, with or
without bark inclusions, and make something interesting, pretty or
otherwise appealing out of it.
Next Club meeting - Tuesday, May 13th, at 7:00pm at the Hillsdale High School Woodshop, located in San Mateo |
