Remember the next Turner's/Carver's show at Prospect High School in Saratoga will soon be here. The dates are Saturday April 5th from 10am to 5pm and on Sunday April 6th from 10am to 5pm. This means that we better get started on making something for the competition and to show the public just how good we really are.
The rules are basically the same as in years past. You can enter up to 5 turnings, but not more that 2 per category. The categories are
(1) Bowls under 8" (2) Bowls over 8", (3) Natural edged bowls,(4) Lidded containers (includes boxes), (5) Closed form (opening 1/3 or less of diameter) , (6) Miscellanies (includes embellished, Carved, artistic, sculptured, abstract, kits, miniature (must fit within a 2" cube), multi-centered, utilitarian, vases, goblets & spindle work) (7) Segmented (1 or more segmented layers) (8) Plates includes platters (height 1/5 or less of diameter) (9) Ornamental.

The club will again auction 3 turnings each day and we need to furnish the Carving club with 2 turnings for their raffle. This means we need 8 turnings. So, please, when asked to donate 1 or 2 turnings for the show say
yes. The proceeds from the raffle will help the club's activities in the future.

As a reminder the classes for competition are:
(1) Beginner (2) Intermediate
(3) Advanced &  (4) Expert (The Expert classification is for those who sell their work. Once a member receives 2 or more first place ribbons he/she must advance 1 classification.

You don't have to pre-enter your work. Just have your turnings to the show before 9am on Saturday. If you're unable to make the show, but want to enter your work for judging, have a fellow turner bring your item(s) to the show for you. It is your responsibility to arrange returning the turnings back as well.

Any questions ask any board member.

PLEASE SUPPORT THE CLUB IN THIS ENDEAVOR BY ENTERING INTO THE COMPETITION EVEN IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER.

Mark your calendars

David Ellsworth Demo has been postponed!
David has a health issue that will prevent him from being able to travel and demo in the Bay Area. We have asked David to give us possible new dates that he could come out and demo, and he has promised after he gets his health issue fixed he will let us know. It is recognized that we were all looking forward to his demo.
